Aries is the first sign of the Western Zodiac also known as the Tropical Zodiac and roughly begins on the first day of spring. I say roughly, because the earth doesn’t complete it’s rotations perfectly so time and dates don’t always technically align, but it wouldn’t make sense to change astrology books every single year when most people aren’t avid scholars and some people don’t think it’s anything but fun.

Aries is symbolized by the ram and ruled by the planet Mars, who was also the God of War. A person born under the sign of Aries is often said to represent the God of War’s courage and assertive nature. They can also tend be self centered and impatient, being born under the first sign naturally makes many of them natural born leaders.

Aries is represented by the color red, which represents their firey nature. They are also fiercely independent, maybe sometimes to a fault and don’t like being bored.
